Holmesdale Infant School Completes Step 3 towards becoming a Sun Safe School - Introductory Assembly Plan

Congratulations to Holmesdale Infant School for carrying out an introductory assembly about how to keep safe in the sun:

“We lead assemblies on 'George the sun safe superstar' as well as teaching the slip, slop, slap rhyme and the 5 S's of sun safety. All 120 4-7 year olds in our school accessed the assemblies.”

Langafel Church Of England Primary School Completes Step 1 towards becoming a Sun Safe School - Sun Hats, Sunscreen & Role Models

Congratulations to Langafel Church Of England Primary School for issuing letters and Sun Safety leaflets to the parents / guardians of all of their children. Langafel Church Of England Primary School have also pledged to make sure that all children have access to Sun Hats & Sunscreen and that all teachers at the school will be good role models with regard to sun safety.

“All pupils have receved a letter and booklet to take home.”

“All staff have been informedof the sun safe programme and have agreed to act as role models. WE have requested more booklets to distribute to staff.”

Holmesdale Infant School Completes Step 2 towards becoming a Sun Safe School - Shade

Congratulations to Holmesdale Infant School for providing shaded areas for their pupils.

“School has a large number of trees where children can rest and play. Children are encouraged to take shade in warmer weather. School also has willow shelters and shaded areas where the children can shelter from the sun. A canopy is provided in the Reception playground for outdoor provision, with another canopy planned in the main playground area.”

Holmesdale Infant School have also pledged to make sure that all children have access to Sun Hats & Sunscreen and that all teachers at the school will be good role models with regard to sun safety.

“I pledge that Holmesdale Infant School will ensure that children wear sunhats to protect themselves against the sun. Children will be expected to wear sunscreen and spare sunscreen and hats will be provided in each class for those children who need it. Year 2 children will be role models as 'sun monitors' ensuring that younger children apply their sunscreen and wear their sunhats whenever necessary.”

“Staff at Holmesdale Infant School have pledged to be role models by applying sunscreen when going outside and wearing hats when on playground duty. Staff have discussed this and agree to it.”
