Year 3 and 4 enjoyed making origami sunhats and deciding which provided the best protection.

Year 5 did an audit of the shade around the school and Year 6 were involved in storytelling about enjoying summer days safely.

We prepared a Sun Safe Fun Book with games puzzles and activities to do at school and at home.

Staff noted how the children remembered to put on sun cream before going out to play and the playground is a sea of sun hats during break.

Congratulations to Hemdean House School for providing shaded areas for their pupils.

“We have various areas of shade on the school playing field provided by trees around two sides of the playing area. The school hall also casts a shadow providing another shaded area on a third side. We are also planning a redevelopment of our playing areas and as part of this we are looking at shaded seated areas and "sail-like" structures to provide additional shaded areas. This will mean an improvement in the amount of shade we can provide in all our playing areas for the future.”
